SPOILERS LIE AHEAD.  PROCEED WITH CAUTION.  

With the wholesale slaughter of the Battle of Winterfell barely in our rearview mirror, Game of Thrones plunges right back into what it does best:  Lies, whispers, betrayal, and cold-blooded murder.  “The Last of the Starks” is vintage Thrones, with most of the main characters jockeying for position in a post-White Walker world.  Long-established allies begin to doubt each other, love begins to wilt on the vine, and things really start going south the minute our heroes turn their attention…well, south.  Almost every relationship now has an 10 ton elephant living the same room, whether it’s Jon and Dany, Varys and Tyrion, Sansa and Dany, Sansa and Jon, Brienne and Jaime, or Bronn, Tyrion, and Jaime.  The one constant throughout this whole episode is a lot of awkwardness.

For this episode, we breakdown the ample plot in the fourth episode of the eighth season of Game of Thrones, and discuss how we think the show will conclude its historic run.  We also drink some red wine that has relevance to events in the story.  Sans Liege makes some damn fine vino, and their well-rounded Groundwork Syrah is no exception.  This was a table-setting episode, so Groundwork seemed like a good fit.  And because the first 20 minutes of this installment show us a strange, subdued celebration at Winterfell, the Cabernet from Revelry Winery felt perfect for the occasion.  These are both great wines at a decent price, so tell your local wine store to bring them in, or else your going slap them directly in the face with a leather glove.

One correction:  I blurt out that Revelry is from California, it’s actually from Washington’s beautiful Columbia Valley.  That’s my bad, y’all.
