Welcome back! This is Week 3 of our limited series, in which we take at look at old movies that might be over or underrated. Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow could be either, depending on your personal taste. (Our panel runs the gamut of opinions.)
Released in 2004, Sky Captain features an all-star cast and–for its era–pioneering digital effects. The film was made entirely with green screen technology, with sets and scene details filled in with CGI. Later efforts like Sin City and Avatar would take this style to the next level, but Sky Captain was truly ahead of its time.
But is it actually a good film? We debate that and enjoy a little Spanish red on this week’s Cinemavino! As always, a few mild *SPOILERS* may abound, and we use a little adult language, so listener discretion is advised.
